Women walking
Due to the weather in Glen Coe it was a bit too windy to leave the drone in one spot or to fly too high, so opportunities to also spend time capturing dance were sparse. The aim of this trip out to Glen Coe was to capture the wider landscape so that is what I prioritsed in the weather windows.
The result is the below film which focuses more on women walking in the landscape. Obviously this film isn't perfect and I need to work on the transitions as well as some smoother drone filming and colour balance but it is another way to film women in the landscape for me to consider.
I am pleased with how this film turned out in terms of capturing one person in the wider landscape, but my thoughts now are whether someone who does not currently engage in nature, particularly as a lone woman, would see this film as something to be nervous of, or encourage them to explore. Over the next few months I will be thinking about how to tie together the landscape, walking and dance movement to create a cohesive story and what I want that story to be. It may be one, it may be many, but each film needs to speak to it's specific audience. I do want these films to showcase women in the landscape as somewhere that they belong and should feel comfortable, but also to encourage others who might feel fearful to adventure out, maybe not alone, but feel confident in beginning to explore new landscapes.
